Mr. Gene B. Mance, Sr., age 77 of Conyers, originally from Florence, Alabama, died Wednesday, February 8, 2012. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Deanne Mance, Conyers; daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Jay Wright; sister, Gail Mance, brother, Buddy Hocker; grandchildren, Stacey Vinson, Jay Vinson, Alex Wright. Mr. Mance was retired from Ford Motor Company with 31 years of service and served on the Ford Motor Company Hapeville Assembly Plant Employee Involvement Quality Control Committee. He was also tour guide and official Santa Claus of Hapeville Ford Assembly Plant. Gene was an avid Crimson Tide fan, Elvis fan and loved to fish. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Conyers and the IBEW. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a resident of Remington House in Conyers and served on the residence council. He was a graduate of Dale Carnegie training. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Scot Ward’s Green Meadow Chapel with Rev. Howard Greer officiating; interment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Family will receive friends Friday, February 10, 2012 from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
