LOGANVILLE -- The Heritage girls basketball team reached the quarterfinals of the Region 8-AAAA Tournament, knocking off host Loganville 45-27.
The Patriots are 3-10 in the calendar year with all three wins coming against Loganville. Aujana Dawkins led the way with 15 points and Shanique Heard added 13.
"It was good to get another win. 2012 has not been the best year for us," Patriots coach Chris Pennamon said. "To get a win in a play-in game to get into the region playoffs, (is a) big confidence booster for the girls.
Heritage, the No. 4 seed, will play top-seed Flowery Branch in Tuesday's quarterfinals.
"We got Flowery Branch, which is going to be a very tough test for us," Pennamon said.
The No. 5 seed Heritage boys played Loganville in a play-in game, which ended too late for this edition.
