CONYERS -- Rockdale County Board of Commissioners named Tammy Myers of the State Court as the 2011 Rockdale County Employee of the Year.
Myers, a judicial assistant with the county's State Court, was selected out of six finalists as the individual who best exemplified exceptional customer service, outstanding initiative and operational effectiveness during the 2011 calendar year, according to a statement released by the county.
Myers was recognized for her work at the judicial center where she has been employed for several years. In nominating Meyers, Rockdale County State Court Judge Nancy Bills commended her for being dependable and loyal and being focused on getting details of her job right.
"As a small office, we are required to work as a team to serve the county and its constituents and I could not do my job as efficiently or as effectively without Tammy," Bills said. "She is truly an outstanding employee!"
Rockdale County Commission Chairman Richard Oden announced the Employee of The Year recipient during a called BOC meeting Tuesday and presented Meyers with a plaque.
County departments nominate their own employees of the year, who are then in the running for the county-wide honor. The other finalists for 2011 were also recognized. They are: Will Barkley, Tax Assessor's Office; John Cannon, Planning and Development; Brian Fix, Transportation; Doris Gervasi, Stormwater; and Gloria McGiboney, Senior Services.
