CONYERS -- Seven Salem High School students were involved in a Tuesday morning brawl that resulted in the arrest of four individuals.
No one was injured in the fight that occurred on the second floor of the school located on Underwood Road. Rockdale County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to the school and arrested four male students and charged them with disorderly conduct.
Three other male students, all 16 years old, were not charged and were released to their parents or guardians, according RCSO Investigator Michael Camp.
The charges were in the form of a Magistrate Court citation, which is similar to an ordinance violation, Camp said. "It's a fine basically."
Those charged could face Magistrate Court possibly as soon as Tuesday. Arrested were Deandre Markell Williams, Alonte Demario Gilstrap, Tony Thomas, and Michael Keith Bagby, all of Conyers.
Exact cause of the fight was not immediately known. "It is our understanding that this stemmed from a recent dispute in the students' neighborhood," RCPS spokeswoman Cindy Ball said in an email response to questions. Ball added that all students will receive consequences according to the school system's Discipline Code of Conduct. The students could face suspension up to 10 days.
