COVINGTON -- An Alcovy High School student was arrested Friday on weapons and drug charges.
Jacob Anglin, 17, of 90 Wynfield Way in Covington, was arrested Friday at school and charged with weapons in a school safety zone and possession of drug-related objects, according to the Newton County Sheriff's Office.
Lt. Keith Crum said two deputies were conducting a followup investigation and contacted the student. They asked for and received permission to search his car.
There, they located two small knives and drug paraphernalia, Crum said.
He said the deputies were following up on a case that is still active, so no more information is available at this time.
This came in the same week that several students were suspended after extreme food fights broke out at the school.
A school resource officer and an administrator have been placed in the cafeteria during all five lunches.

Grow up people! It is pathetic that high school students need to have a babysister while they eat their lunch. For those of you that do not know how to act, your childish actions are having a negative impact on those who know how to behave! You are there to learn not have a food fight! I am glad to hear there were some suspensions handed out. Too bad they don't make highchairs for teenagers!
