OXFORD -- Oxford College guard Alex Ordu has been named the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 30, the college announced.
A former standout at nearby Newton High School, Ordu averaged 17.5 points per game with seven rebounds, 4.5 assists and three steals as the Eagles went 1-1 on the week, defeating Southern Crescent Tech 75-50 on Jan. 26 and losing to West Georgia Tech 79-71 on Jan. 28.
Against Southern Crescent Tech, Ordu recorded 21 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals. Against West Georgia Tech, he had 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Oxford (14-7, 3-2) hosted the Huntingdon College junior varsity on Thursday night and will host Gordon College at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Williams Gymnasium.-- From staff reports
