Rockdale County 4-H Club members, front from left, Claire Williams, Jessica France, Amanda Pye, D’Aijhai Aiken, Amanda Cathcart, back from left, Sara Yarberry, Amir Handy, Benahia Chandler, Rashad Harris, Justin Spencer and Naimah Harris recently placed among the top competitors in the Cotton Boll and Consumer Judging Competition sponsored by the Georgia Cotton Commission. After spending weeks learning about cotton, each 4-Her wrote either a 30-second commercial or a 90-second advertisement about cotton and presented it at the competition. The group also worked on their consumer skills as they learned about fast food meals, watches, movie rentals and blue jeans by analyzing product scenarios. Rockdale 4-H competed at the Conyers Area Competition on Nov. 14 against 10 other teams. Rockdale 4-H Junior Team (fifth- to seventh-graders) placed third and the Senior Team (ninth- to 12th-graders) placed second. The Senior Team advances to the State Competition this month.
