COVINGTON -- A Newborn man traveling with his family on the way for the children to visit Santa Claus was killed Monday around 6 p.m. in a car crash near Athens, according to the Athens-Clarke County Police Department.
Christopher Tyler, 37, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by his wife.
"She was driving northbound on Timothy Road and attempted a left turn onto the southbound Loop 10 ramp," said ACCPD Public Information Officer Hilda Sorrow. "She turned into the path of a 2000 Jeep Cherokee driven by a 16-year-old male who was southbound. The Evans' vehicle was struck in the passenger side, causing fatal injuries to husband Christopher Evans."
Mrs. Evans and her two sons, ages 7 and 5, were transported to Athens Regional Medical Center where they were treated and released.
No charges have been filed pending completion of the investigation, Sorrow said.
