Newton Citizen
Eight-year-old Cora Leigh Pickett surprised her family by donating her savings to the cancer program at Newton Medical Center. "I don't know what made her decide to do that. I was leaving her birthday party and she ran in the house and came back out and handed me the bag of money," her grandmother Eloise Pickett, an employee of NMC, said. "The only thing I know is that she is a very tender-hearted girl, but other than that I don't know what made her decide to do that." Pickett said Cora Leigh is a straight-A second-grader at Flint Hill Elementary School. She is the daughter of Shane and Stacy Pickett of Oxford. - Special photo

What a special little girl. Groundups could learn from her. If i had a vote she would be my Newton County Citizen of the Year.
