Oxford College to present holiday concert

OXFORD -- The Oxford College Chorale will present its holiday concert this week.

The concert is scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday in the Oxford College chapel.

The chorale, composed of Oxford students, will be accompanied by the Oxford Chamber Ensembles. The director of the Oxford Chorale and String Ensembles is Maria Archetto, associate professor of music.

The program will feature traditional Christmas carols and other seasonal pieces, including music by J.S. Bach, Dietrich Buxtehude, W.A. Mozart, Jean-Joseph Mouret and Felix Mendelssohn.

Tickets are free and will be available at the Oxford Student Center beginning on Monday.

For those attending the concert or others interested later, a special opportunity to support the Oxford Chorale and Oxford music program is being introduced during the holiday season. Those donating $10 or more will receive a copy of the CD "Giacomo Carissimi: Two Early Baroque Oratorios, Jonas and Jephte," featuring the Oxford Chorale with Atlanta's New Trinity Baroque soloists.
