An unidentified golfer warms up for last year's Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament. The 2012 tournament will take place at Cherokee Run Golf Club in Conyers on Sept. 24.
It's time to tee up again for the Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce. The chamber is holding its 22nd Annual Golf Tournament on Sept. 24 at Cherokee Run Golf Club, 3321 Dennard Road in Conyers near the Georgia International Horse Park.
Registration is at 10:30 a.m., followed by a putting contest, lunch and shotgun start at noon. Cost is $500 for a team of four, or $125 for a single. The cost includes 18 holes of golf, boxed lunch and a heavy hors d'oeuvres dinner. Entrants must be members of the Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber Membership Services Coordinator Stephanie Layson said there is a waiting list to play in the tournament but that she would recommend those interested to get on the list, as cancellations could open spots.
The golf tournament generates roughly $15,000 for the chamber, said Layson.
"It's our largest fundraiser but people go there to play and have a good time," she said.
For those who don't want to play golf but want to participate, there is a ball drop in which golf balls are dropped from a platform and the closest ball to the hole wins.
Tickets for the ball drop are $10 for one or $50 for six tickets. Entrants do not have to be present to win. If 1,000 tickets are sold, first prize is $1,000, and there are cash prizes for second and third places.
