Attorney attempts to settle with former AHS employee
Kevin Dockery, a former teacher at Alcovy High School, said he received an email on his personal email account Monday from attorney Stephanie Lindsey's email address informing him that he could be named in the defamation lawsuit of LaQuanda Carpenter v. Jeff Meadors, unless he settles beforehand.
Covington News reporter reports threat
The Covington Police Department has confirmed that a reporter for the Covington News filed a complaint with them Saturday after receiving an anonymous letter at her residence possibly tied to the LaQuanda Carpenter civil action against those making comments on the Newton Citizen website.

Investigators with the Newton County Sheriff's Office have discovered a synthetic marijuana mill in a home in a subdivision in western Newton County, according to NCSO Public Information Officer Courtney Morrison.
Man beaten, robbed of $19K in items
A man was robbed and assaulted at his Ridge Way Pointe Drive home Monday and two suspects got away with nearly $19,000 in stolen goods, according to the Newton County Sheriff's Office.
Children found wandering while parents absent
The Newton County Sheriff's Office was called Friday to Lakeside Circle in reference to a lost child.
