"My comment is from the article in the Sunday paper, April 22. I think it is very sad that there are people out there setting traps on cats to be caught and taken to the animal control. I am a cat and dog lover. If they are not hurting you and you don't like them, leave them alone. Cats are not the only animals out there roaming the streets 24-7. It is not their fault that they are out there. Some individual did not neuter or spay them and that is one of the reasons all these animals are multiplying. So, your so-called lecture is inhumane to animals. Especially cats. I have a house cat and he never goes outside ... I got him for the purpose to catch the so-called rodents if any mouse gets in the house. Cats are cleaner than some individuals; they bathe themselves every day ... And they are very smart and not so-called dummies as you have stated."
"I understand that Depo Provera is a useless attempt in preventing sexual predators from re-offending again, but why are there those who protest against its use by claiming it is 'cruel and unusual punishment?' Why should I care if a rapist has complications after being injected, or may not be able to reproduce? Those attacked by these sexual predators are forever scarred by their abuse, and even turn to drinking, drugs, self-harm and even suicide to alleviate the pain they have to deal with. Some cannot bear children, others lose the use of their limbs, eyes, etc. But the predators who hurt them get light prison sentences (if they're even imprisoned at all), and yes they have to register as a sex offender, but then they're free to re-offend, which research shows that 75 percent will, despite any 'therapy' they may undergo. Are the people fighting for their 'rights' even aware of what they're lobbying for? Where is the cut-off line for 'equality?' It's sickening."
"I would hope that the Jews in America recognized why Obama was at the ceremony recently in memory of the Holocaust. He made clear his contempt for Israel at his meetings with Prime Minister Netanyahu at the White House. He doesn't care what happens to Israel. He stands with the Muslims who want all Jews dead! He is such a liar. I pray his deceit won't work this time. Wake up, Jews in America. Obama is only interested in one thing -- the Jewish vote. See through his facade and vote him out in November. We must get a new president or we have no hope. Pray, then vote and your choice will be clear."
"To the person in the poll of last Sunday who believes that President Obama is responsible for every USA social program in effect and even preposterously blamed the president for the Assurance Wireless program. Does anyone really believe this nonsense? I recommend that everyone check FactCheck.org, politifact.com, and Snopes.com before making such inflammatory statements. Apparently the writer does not understand the many evolving legislative acts through many presidential administrations leading to telephone service for everyone. There is a government program that's been around since the Reagan years to provide telephone service to low income people. It's called the Lifeline Assistance and Link-Up program. It isn't paid for with our taxes. Originally, Lifeline was intended to help consumers pay for conventional land line phones. But as mobile phones have become commonplace, the FCC has allowed low-income folks to use Lifeline funds for wireless service, too."
"Having the state reduce funding by $1.6 million to the NCSS makes total sense if they have lost 400 students this school year. Let's look at the numbers, because if you are educating 400 less students (which is almost an entire elementary school) then you should have less costs, less needs, less expenses. I do not understand why our school system continues to add more costs into their budget, yet the number of students served continues to drop. We are building more and more 'grand' school buildings with the attitude of 'if we build it, they will come.' That is totally crazy and a misuse of taxpayer dollars. It is just like the local school systems fighting the state for the tax dollars for the children they do not serve (those in state virtual academies, home schooled, etc). They want the money for the children they failed to serve and are not serving. It is time for the money to follow the children and go to a state voucher system where the money goes to the children they actually serve."
"kshzzzzz ... ..kshzzzzzz ... ..1-Adam-12 ... 1-Adam-12. See the man in Porterdale that doesn't know its the 21st Century. They say he writes a column for the local newspaper. kshzzzzzz.....kshzzzzz. This is 1-Adam 12....Copy that."
"I'm watching the MHP show on MSNBC. The owner of a seafood company located on the Gulf was showing a huge tar ball (actual) and pictures of shrimp without eyes and with tumors. All of the restaurants have closed. The town is down to one gas station. The thought struck me that the poor man and his town have paid taxes that in part go to BP in subsidies. And BP has ruined this man and his town."
"Good grief. Can't city code enforcement or the good taste police do something about the pink toilet on Floyd Street? Although it is true that 'Art lies in the eye of the beholder,' many feel this bit of ill-conceived attempt at whimsy is repugnant and certainly a detriment to the ambience of Covington."
"Does anyone know why they took the Mystic Grille sign down? I had some out-of-town visitors here Wednesday and noticed the sign was gone when I took them to the Square to see it."
"It must be true that fellow officers stick up for one another until an officer gets caught doing in public what most officers do on our taxpayers' time, while on patrol! Way to go chief for setting an example and removing an officer for doing the very same thing you have done!"
" ... Like it or not, today's schools are not the schools we fondly remember attending. There are weekly accounts of serious misbehavior in our papers. One of the more frustrating aspects of this is that at the elementary level, there are few options available to remove unruly students. When they reach middle school, they are quickly dispatched to schools like the Challenge Academy or the Ombudsman Program (usually for the same behaviors elementary schools have been dealing with for several years). Still not convinced? Read the headlines in this week's edition of the Citizen. An 11-year-old student is facing sex charges for exposing himself to little girls on the bus! As it happens, this evidently wasn't his first problem. The news article states that he had previously "sexted" pictures of his genitals to others. What was done then? I suspect nothing was done. Your schools are in trouble. Many times their hands are tied as far as dealing with troubling issues!"
