Covington Police to hold Assault Awareness Seminar

COVINGTON -- The Covington Police Department will be offering an Assault Awareness Seminar on Wednesday, May 16, at the CPD headquarters, located at 1143 Oak St.

"The objective of this important personal safety training is to help provide our citizens with techniques and safety strategies to prevent, minimize, or survive an assault," said CPD spokesman Capt. Ken Malcom.

A portion of the class will be hands-on defensive tactics training where the student will have the opportunity to work with a defensive tactics instructor. Other topics to be discussed include observation skills, negotiation skills, and victim reporting skills.

The class will be conducted from 7-9 p.m.
