This smiling boy is short and sturdy and aptly named Tank. He's very lovable and extremely sweet and would make a great TV partner. About 2 years old, he's a small mixed breed and weighs between 15 and 20 pounds. He can be rescued and adopted at Rockdale County Animal Care and Control Shelter at 1506 Rockbridge Road in Conyers. At the Rockdale shelter adoption fees for dogs are $30 and $20 for cats. Spaying or neutering is required for adoption. The shelter is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-278-8403.

This petite little lady can't understand why her world has caved in. Her name is Jessie and is only 10 months old. She was abandoned by her owner and could use some petting. A Jack Russell terrier-mix, she's had some of her shots and has been wormed and would really like to find somebody to love her forever. She can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514.
