It took just one inning for Eastside’s high-powered offense to keep rolling Thursday in Covington. The Eagles sent 17 batters to the plate and scored 11 runs in a 13-2 victory over Eagle’s Landing in Region 4-AAA play. Eastside (15-4, 9-2), which scored at least seven runs for the 16th time in 19 games, will travel to Spalding, which is 11-0 in league play, Monday at 5:55 p.m.
Against Eagle’s Landing, Keith Buckhault and Joey Mitchell each blasted three-run home runs in the marathon first, and later, Jerold Sumner added a two-run blast. That was more than enough for Daniel Garrett, who pitched four strong innings, striking out three to pick up the win.
