A long losing streak seems to be a thing of the past for the Rockdale baseball team. Young Harris College commitment Aaron Barfield threw a complete-game seven-hitter, striking out nine in the Bulldogs' 5-1 win over Cedar Shoals on Wednesday. It was the third consecutive victory for Rockdale and second straight over Cedar Shoals. The three wins have followed a seven-game losing streak where Rockdale allowed more than nine runs per game.
"(Rockdale has) been fairly playing well the past few games," said Bulldogs coach Justin Arrington.
In Wednesday's win, Matt Ward led the way at the plate, driving in four runs, while John Martin and Malachi Eskin added two hits apiece. Rockdale (6-9, 3-6 Region 8-AAAA) travels to Flowery Branch today with the first pitch scheduled for 5:55 p.m.
