COVINGTON - Tickers are on sale for the upcoming Chick-fil-A Leadercast viewing event at Turner Lake Complex.
For the third year, the Newton Plaza Chick-fil-A is partnering with Newton Recreation and the Miracle League of Newton County to host the May 4 event, which gives locals the chance to hear world-renowned leaders speak via live broadcast from the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. A portion of proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Miracle League, which is raising money to construct a baseball field for special needs children at City Pond Park.
Featured in this years leadercast are: Soledad O'Brien, anchor and special correspondent for CNN; Tim Tebow, NFL quarterback, Heisman Trophy winner and best-selling author; Patrick Lencioni, best-selling author and president of The Table Group; John Maxwell, leadership expert and best-selling author of "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership;" Angela Ahrendts, CEO of Burberry; Roland Fryer, professor of economics at Harvard University and CEO of the Education Innovation Laboratory; Urban Meyer, ESPN analyst and former had football coach for the University of Florida; Andy Stanley, best-selling leadership author and communicator; Sheena Iyengar, author of "The Art of Choosing."
This year's theme is the power of choice, with speakers sharing insights to help leaders empower and equip others at home, work and in the community through choices.
"I have been attending the Leadercast for many years and it is always a personal development highlight for me," said Hunter Hall, president of the Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce. "This year the Chamber is sending its entire Leadership Newton County class to the event because the take-aways are so abundant."
The date of the Leadercast is May 4, but organizers are hoping to have a sellout crowd long before then. Last year, 85,000 people from 17 countries viewed the leadercast, and this year is expected to draw the largest audience to date. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 4 at Turner Lake Complex.
