"OK, Rockdale Sherriff's and city of Conyers, what are you doing to tell these thugs to get out of our county? Enough is enough! Daily crime reports, I'm over it. There needs to be more patrols around stores and shopping centers we all frequent to protect us day and night!

----

"How strange that money can be found to buy and repair rundown houses, but can't find funds anywhere to repair 'one' building, that provides much needed services for this county. Pridgeon stated that it's simply not a core function of the county government. Then how is real estate a core function of the county government? Something stinks here."

"For those of you who have not seen the TV news story about the attempted kidnapping at Hobby Lobby, here it is. It makes me proud to be from here. Good job to the citizens who helped this woman. http://conyers.11alive.com/news/news/107986-conyers-woman-fights-knife-wielding-attacker"

"I need to say something as a white person that I hope is not taken the wrong way. I do not know the whole story with the Florida kid getting shot and it definitely sounds fishy so I lean towards jailing the shooter since there are no other witnesses. But I have to say, any time Rev. Sharpton gets involved in the situation, I will go the other direction. He and others like him are like union reps that you (black folks) refuse to call out for the hatemongers that they are. He is only interested in keeping his position of hate-mongering and without hate and fear, he has no job. He is using you. When you as a people stand up and denounce hate-mongering and stop supporting those guys, I will jump in. But not until then. White folks, for the majority, have denounced open racism and I really need y'all to meet me halfway. Organize a movement of black folks against Rev. Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and Louis Farrakhan and the rest. Take off the training wheels and be normal. You don't need a black movement anymore. We can just be people together."

----

"What a nice young man that helped the grandmother at Hobby Lobby. He chased that terrible kidnapper down. I am very proud of him and the rest of the people who helped her. We can have a good Conyers. We just need to stop complaining and be nice to each other. My heart is about to burst with pride over this incident. I feel like we passed a test. Good work. Good work. Good work. God is hearing our prayers. Keep it up. That fella needs a reward. Put his name in the paper and I will bake him my good pound cake."

----

"'Darrell Huckaby should be ashamed of himself.'" Seriously? Give the man a break! He is fighting cancer ... Under 'normal' circumstances, sure, voice your opinion... Darrell is not looking to be a role model. He is fighting a hard battle! You are obviously lacking in compassion ..."

"I would like to say thank you to that awesome parent at the Rockdale County High School band tent at the Cherry Blossom Festival. I was a vendor today and I had to pass his tent to get to the restrooms. Each time I passed, he was standing on his block and selling product. He made me want to buy a soda even though I had some in a cooler at my booth! Keep up the great work sir! RKAB! (Rockdale Knows About Band) Being an alumni of Rockdale and having used to play in their band, I was proud of the great support they have."

"Yes the Chinese were slaves and the Irish also were indentured to work on the railroad. They toiled for years trying to repay the 'master' for their transportation to America for a better life. When Lincoln freed the black slaves, the yellow slaves (Chinese) and the white slaves (Irish) were not freed. So when are people going to move on and live in the present, plan for the future and leave the past behind? Never, because it is an excuse for their entitlement mentality, they are too lazy or ignorant or both to make a future for themselves. They must depend on the government for health care, food, housing, utilities, their Obama phone and on and on. The party will soon be over so you better get another plan for yourself. Maybe you could write a book on the history of slavery if you could just educate yourself on the true facts."

----

"Every white American that voted for Obama should take a strong look at the comments he made about the Trayvon/Zimmerson case. While this is a tragic thing to happen, our president should never make a racist remark like this. He said, 'If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon.' In other words, because this boy was black, this case should be given special attention. A president should be concerned about all races that are murdered, not just the black ones. If Bush had said something like that, the NAACP, Sharpton and Lowrey would be all over it! What is this bull about some Black Panthers offering a reward, there should be no 'Black Panthers.' Other races are not allowed to have racist organizations such as this. Why are the American people and government allowing these black only organizations to even exist. Every American should unite to fight crime in the U.S. I read today that witnesses are coming forth to say that maybe Zimmerman was defending himself. I think the president owes the Hispanics, Caucasians and other races a huge apology for this racist remark. It is sad to think that neighborhoods have to have people watching over them. Yesterday a Muslim man attacked a woman and her grandchild right here in our hometown, I wonder what Obama would have to say about that!"

"I joined the service and left Conyers when I was 18 years old. I miss a lot of things. One of the things I really miss was pizza from that little mom and pop place on West Avenue. It was great pizza. I have had a lot of good food around this country, but I would love to back to through Conyers and hit that place again if it is still there."

----"I am offended by the person in last week's poll who made the assumption that the low lifes in the community all come from rental properties. I live in an apartment and am certainly not a low life, neither are most of my neighbors. The reason I don't buy a house is because this community is way to unstable to commit to right now. Quit ignorantly profiling people."

----

"My next door neighbor broke her back in a terrible car accident and has been bedridden for over a month. She has not been able to work and has begun to receive some limited assistance including food stamps. She put me on her account to purchase her groceries since she cannot go to the store herself. I get the meanest stares because I do not look like someone who requires assistance, and I don't. However, I don't have the money to support my neighbor and her daughter on my income. Before you judge someone and draw a conclusion that they are cheating the tax payers, realize that you might not understand the entire situation."

----

"To the commenter last week who said: 'People should be aware that manning at the 911 center is now that the people that are left are up to a mandatory 60-hour week of 12 hours. I sure don't want to get someone in an emergency who is exhausted from working all those hours!' Are you not aware that doctors in the ER work shifts like that, and worse, all the time? Think before you mouth off. These people that work hard to provide care to you and I in our times of greatest need have a greater education than you, it seems, judging from the way you cannot put together a proper, coherent sentence."

----

"I said a prayer today that I have not said before. It was simple. 'Lord, please bring us together.' It seems that mean, dishonest people want white and black folks to keep being rude to one another. On both sides, there are people who make the situation worse. So, all of the good people need to start praying that the Lord will bring us together. Let's please keep praying it."

"'Clerk offers to share passport fees with county.'" When I read this, I got sick at my stomach. How dare Ruth Wilson to take passport money for herself! I worked for DeKalb County Superior Court for 12 years and seven years was spent as the accounting supervisor and never did the clerk there ever take passport money for herself, it all went to the general fund. How about the last three years? Why don't she give all that money back. Someone needs to contact the attorney general's office and get this illegal loophole changed. Personal checks written to Ruth Wilson to supplement her already enormous income ... she should be ashamed ... from now on, I will go to the post office for my passport and Oz Nesbitt praised her......of course!"

----

"Finally, MARTA has selected their 'Locally Preferred Alternative' for the I-20 East corridor to be initially funded by the T-SPLOST. Basically, heavy rail will come south from Indian Creek and terminate at Stonecrest while bus rapid transit will connect at Wesley Chapel Road for more direct service to Atlanta. Hopefully, once it's built, MARTA can be convinced to extend the line another 1- miles into Rockdale, but at least once it's built as planned, Rockdale will finally be within 10-20 minutes of fast, safe, reliable rapid transit service to Atlanta!"

----

"Only in America can a clerk, while being paid by government funds, legally double dip. I just wish I could have had such a job. I know little about this, but I am sure there are many cases like this. We all know little about how our government works. It is for sure that it does not always have our best interest at heart."

----

"We may not always like the way the Citizen reports, but it does give out good information at times and where would we be without it?"

----

"How can Ruth Wilson, clerk of the Superior Court, justify taking passport fees and paying them directly to herself? She didn't even deduct the salary of employees that processed the passports, or reimburse the office for supplies and overhead. She stated that 'we do the extra work, we should get the extra money,' but she took it all for herself and didn't share with anyone. All the money should remain in the Clerk's Office to offset expenses. I certainly can't vote to reelect her. Can you?"

----

"Good people of Conyers. I do not know when Hank Johnson is up for reelection, but could we please not vote him back in? He is a geriatric buffoon. Here is a clip of him looking like an idiot saying the Island of Guam would capsize if we transferred too many Marines on it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bs23CjIWMgA He makes our county look like complete idiots. And it works just like crime. Other idiotic politicians that cannot get voted will come here to Conyers because they think we are idiots. Let's please send a message that we are smart and will only vote for sharp, honest people. No more clowns please!"

"It's about time that Republicans quit messing around on the issue of race and actually remind the country of the truth. They need to point out that in both principle and practice, the Republican Party has a far better record than the Democrats on race. Even more importantly, they need to stress that on the issues that most affect African-Americans today, the Democratic position represents racism of the most offensive sort -- a patronizing racism that denigrates blacks every bit as badly as the old racism of Jim Crow and segregation."----

"Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that will require every citizen to prove they are insured ... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen."

----

"Does anyone know where I can find a list of assistant superintendents for RCPS that has job titles and pictures? There are a couple of those guys wandering around the county and I have no clue what their job is besides sucking up money. I don't have a name to go with their faces. I see them line up at our staff meetings or standing in the background at some trainings. Every time I get close enough to read a name tag on them, they either aren't wearing it or move around too much. They have blank looks on their faces and noncommittal, bland, small-talk, smile-and-nod demeanors. I know that doesn't help much so I really need that list. They remind me of pod people that are in those positions to prevent sincere people of real passion and conviction from getting those jobs."

"I have been a Rockdale County resident for 43 years, which is all of my adult life, and proud of it, but I am seeing history repeat itself in Rockdale. My parents were part of the white flight from DeKalb County in the late 1960s and moved to Rockdale to live out their lives in this little piece of heaven. Rockdale County being a close knit community anybody from DeKalb County was as foreign as alien from another planet, even when a well-meaning pharmacist from DeKalb ran for county commissioner, not to mention win. Poor old Woody Woodward couldn't do anything right in the eyes of the old guard of Rockdale. I really can't say too much about his achievements, but I can say he tried to better the community. It seems to me that we are repeating this history, not that I am endorsing any of the candidates, but it seems like they are trying to improve the Rockdale community and if nothing else they do deserve our gratitude and respect. In closing, put on your headlights in the rain, let's all of us offer a prayer for Darrell Huckaby."

"I cannot tell you how mad I was after reading the article about the court clerk 'sharing' the money from passport fees. As a county employee I find it not only offensive but totally ludicrous that she should make it sound like she is 'sharing'' this money out of the goodness of her heart. To think she pocketed $44,000 extra above her salary when most employees have not had a raise in several years really speaks volumes to her way of thinking. For Wilson to say the money was for her extra work processing passports is another statement that is a slap in the face to people that work in her department. I dare say Wilson doesn't do any of the work but the county paid employees are doing all the work. They are paid county wages, work in a county office, and use county supplies. On top of this for ... Commissioner Nesbitt to commend her for this 'transparency' is totally outrageous. It is easy to see which commissioner supports the county and its employees. I hope every Rockdale voter goes out in November and elects people that are truly looking out for the good of the county and not to line their pockets."
