Georgia United Credit Union recently announced that Debbie Smith of Conyers was promoted from vice president of human resources to chief operating officer. She joined Georgia United in 2002, after having served for 22 years as Maxell Tape's human resources vice president.
Smith also served as the chairperson of the Conyers Cherry Blossom Festival for 10 years and is a graduate of Leadership Rockdale County.
Smith has been an active member of the Georgia Department of Labor committee and earned the Georgia Department of Labor Lifetime Achievement Award. She has also served as past chair of Central Georgia's Society of Human Resource Managers in Rockdale County.
