COVINGTON -- Newton County Sheriff's Office deputies wasted no time in apprehending a suspect in an armed robbery at Liberty gas station on Crowell Road Thursday morning.
Arrested and charged with armed robbery was Kevin Marlowe, 37, of Newnan.
According to NCSO spokesman Lt. Mark Mitchell, Marlowe entered the store around 8:30 a.m. and "brandished an object that appeared to the clerk to be a weapon."
Mitchell said Marlowe demanded currency and the clerk complied. He then fled the store on foot.
NCSO deputies and investigators shortly arrived at the scene.
"We set up a perimeter and had a canine tracking him. Deputies apprehended the individual on foot at Riverside Mobile Home Park, located along the Access Road," Mitchell said.
The cash stolen in the robbery was recovered, although Mitchell said it was still under investigation as to exactly how much was taken.
