East Point officer arrested on theft charge

EAST POINT, Ga. (AP) An East Point police officer has been fired and arrested on a theft charge.Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents arrested Eric Miller last week on charges of theft by taking, violating his oath of office and giving false statements.

WXIA-TV reports that Miller was immediately fired from the East Point police force. In August, East Point officials had placed him on administrative leave.

Miller was released from jail Saturday and faces an Oct. 7 court hearing. A phone listing for Miller could not be located. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
