Talk about Paul Newman eyes! This guy is a shepherd-mix and has unusual baby blue eyes. Workers at the shelter say he is very friendly and laid back and would make an ideal family pet. He was found running loose and no one has claimed him. He's only 5 or 6 months old and is up-to-date on all shots. He can be rescued and adopted at Rockdale County Animal Care and Control Shelter at 1506 Rockbridge Road in Conyers. At the Rockdale shelter adoption fees for dogs are $30 and $20 for cats. Spaying or neutering is required for adoption. The shelter is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-278-8403.

Questions to ask before adopting a pet:

Can I make a long-term commitment to this pet?

Will I be able to spend enough time with a new pet?

Am I prepared for the cost a new pet will bring?

Which pet is right for my home and my family?
