MABLETON, Ga. (AP) -- Community leaders in south Cobb County are planning several projects they hope will spark redevelopment in their part of metro Atlanta.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that about 200 residents and Cobb County officials gathered for a town hall meeting this week in Mableton to talk about the plans.
Officials say the South Cobb Implementation Strategy focuses on redevelopment in three areas: Mableton; the River Line area along the Chattahoochee River; and the Six Flags Drive area.
The plan includes a variety of short-term projects such as park and road improvements, and long-term goals like tearing down old apartments along Six Flags Drive.
A newly re-formed and expanded South Cobb Redevelopment Authority is pushing the effort.
