COVINGTON — Two motorists were killed Sunday morning when a motorcycle struck a vehicle at the intersection of Ga. Highway 138 and Gum Creek Road, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Dead are Deane Stapp Smith, 67, of Covington, and Richard Lynn McKee, 24, of Loganville.
GSP spokesman Capt. Paul Cosper said the vehicle driven by Smith was traveling on Gum Creek Road around 10:20 a.m. She ran a stop sign and entered Ga. 138, at which time the motorcycle operated by McKee struck the vehicle on the driver’s side, Cosper said.
Smith was driving an Oldmosbile Alero and was transported by air ambulance to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta where she later died. McKee, who was operating a 1986 Honda GMX-250, was dead at the scene, Cosper said.

What is the rush to publish two news letters on Monday morning on a terrible event, when the accident happened on Sunday?
