COVINGTON -- A 24-year-old Newton County man was killed Thursday afternoon in a motorcycle crash, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
GSP spokesman Gordy Wright said Richard Arthur Swift died following the crash which occurred around 12:50 p.m. on Smith Store Road.
"A 2003 Suzuki was traveling south when the motorcycle topped a hill crest and the operator lost control," Wright said. "The vehicle left the roadway, ejecting the operator and came to rest in a wooded area."
Wright said Swift was taken to Newton General Hospital and then airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center where he died later in the afternoon.
