COVINGTON -- A man leaving his place of business was robbed at gunpoint around 11 p.m. Saturday, according to the Covington Police Department.
CPD spokesman Capt. Ken Malcom said officers responded to an alarm call at the BP gas station at 6229 Turner Lake Road, but while en route were informed that the call was actually for an armed robbery.
"When officers arrived thy spoke with the victim who essentially stated that he was confronted by an individual in a ski mast as he exited his place of business," Malcom said. "The perpetrator forced the victim back into the store and into a back office behind the counter. During the robbery, the perpetrator fired two shots into the floor."
Malcom said the robber took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and fled on foot. The victim was not injured.
The suspect is described as a black male, wearing a black wool ski mask, a black long-sleeved T-shirt and blue jeans.
The CPD is appealing to the public to help them find the suspect.
