Great Southern Wood Preserving Inc. of Conyers held a lunch on Oct. 20 to celebrate a safety milestone for the company. The production team achieved five consecutive years of operation without a recordable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) injury.
Because of its outstanding safety record, the Conyers plant is also certified through the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition (SHARP) Program. By being a member of the SHARP program, the Great Southern Wood Preserving Conyers plant is exempt from OSHA inspections.
Great Southern Wood Preserving is headquartered in Abbeville, Ala. The Conyers plant is one of 12 plants throughout the Southern half of the United States and has been in operation since 1985.
The main business of the company is producing pressure treated lumber that is manufactured and distributed to independent lumber yards and home centers throughout the company's shipping territory.
