Mrs. Lenora Lucille Gittings Philpott, age 88, of Conyers, GA passed away on October 17, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Weymond Isaac "Red" Philpott and her parents John Franklin Gittings, Jr. and Jessie Verner Thomas Gittings and brothers John Franklin Gittings, III, and Jesse Thomas Gittings. She is survived by four children, son and daughter-in-law, David and Laura Philpott of Conyers, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Cam Mullinax of Buford, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Bob Schafer of Vero Beach, FL; and son Matthew Philpott of College Park, GA; brother and sister-in-law Joe and Joan Gittings of Rome, GA; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Philpott grew up in Roanoke, AL and moved to Atlanta, GA during WWII. She married Mr. Philpott in 1944 in Atlanta where they raised their family. During the 1960's Mrs. Philpott was an Area Counselor for The Atlanta Journal's program for young businessmen called "Benefits That Last a Lifetime." She worked with many fine young men who had paper routes in her area during those years. In 1974 Mrs. Philpott moved with her husband and daughter Tracey to Jackson's Gap, AL, where she resided until after her husband's death in 1999. The Rev. Clyde Coker will officiate at the funeral service at 1:00 pm CST on October 19, 2011 at the Langley Funeral Home in Camp Hill, AL. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 pm CST. Burial will be at Old Union Cemetery in Jackson's Gap, AL.
