Covington Lions to host Pancake Supper

COVINGTON -- Southerners love their breakfast food anytime of the day or night, and the Covington Lions Club is hoping breakfast for supper becomes a tradition in Covington.

"Lions hope that the citizens of Newton County who recognize them for their chili supper in February and their chicken BBQ plates in April will be back for a scrumptious pancake and sausage supper," said Lion Doreen Stallworth.

The club will host its first ever Pancake Supper on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 5-8 p.m. at the Lions Clubhouse on Conyers Street.

Plain or blueberry pancakes complete with hot butter and maple syrup, along with Holifield sausage patties will be served. Beverages include coffee, iced tea or orange juice.

Adult tickets are $5 and children under 7 can eat for $3. All Lions are selling tickets and they can also be purchased in advance at Mayfield's in Newton Plaza or at the door.

Lions will be collecting unused eyeglasses, hearing aids and cell phones at the event.

All proceeds will benefit the Lions sign and hearing impairment charities within Newton County, the state and internationally. Visit their Web site at www.covingtonlions.org for more information.
