COVINGTON -- The Covington-Newton Chamber of Commerce is hosting a job fair in partnership with the Georgia Department of Labor from 8 a.m. to noon on Tuesday at Georgia Piedmont Technical College, formerly DeKalb Tech, at 8100 Bob Williams Parkway.
Six industries will participate: Nisshinbo, Clairon Metals, Saint-Gobain, Solo Cup, Paramount Staffing and an unnamed plastics extrusion company, according to Shannon Davis, director of business retention and expansion.
"We had one of the industries call us needing to fill several positions quickly and asking our assistance," Davis said, adding that she expects a good turnout. "I didn't know what to expect last time, but we felt we needed one with the unemployment rate where it is. We were in the 800 range (for attendance), so prepare to be patient."
