Good Samaritan held up, shot at in Conyers armed robbery

Two suspects sought in Salem Road shooting

CONYERS -- Local investigators are looking for two suspects involved in a Saturday armed robbery at a gas station on Salem Road where a gunman shot into a moving vehicle.

No one was injured during the incident that occurred after 3 a.m. Saturday, according to the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office. The RCSO incident report states the robbery began when the victim pulled up at the QuikTrip at 2400 Salem Road to assist two people with a stalled car in the store's parking lot.

The victim, a Covington man, was helping the people who said they had just left the R2 night club at 1381 Iris Drive in Conyers.

The victim pulled his Chevrolet pick-up truck next to the stalled car, a green Honda Accord. The report said the truck pulled into the parking space between the green Honda and another Honda Accord that was blue.

At that time, a man identified as "D" stepped out of the blue Honda, brandished a small, black handgun and took the glasses off the victim's face. The victim then pulled his wallet out and told the gunman, "I have no money," the report states.

The gunman then began to walk away, but then the victim got into his truck and began chasing him into the parking lot of the Wendy's restaurant next door. While there, another black male, identified as "Tick," stepped out of a parked white Oldsmobile Cutlass and fired numerous rounds at the victim's truck, striking it twice on the driver's side bed, the report states.

The suspect identified as "D" ran towards the Food Depot grocery store while the victim pulled his truck onto Salem Road and eventually circled back to the QuikTrip. Witnesses told RCSO deputies that the suspect identified as "Tick" got into the Cutlass and sped off, according to the report.

Investigators continued their efforts Wednesday to identify the suspects. "D" is described as a black male about 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing 185 pounds. He was seen wearing blue jeans, a white shirt, a black vest and had a tattoo on his neck.

"Tick" is described as a black male about 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing 175 pounds. He was seen wearing a black hat, a black shirt and black pants.
