COVINGTON -- The Newton County Sheriff's Office detained a 13-year-old Cousins Middle School student and charged him with weapons in a school safety zone, a felony.
According to NCSO Public Information Officer Deputy Courtney Morrison the Cousin's school resource officer was notified by a supervisor from the Newton County School System Transportation Department that a weapon had been taken off the student by a bus driver. The driver was told by another student that the 13-year-old was in possession of the weapon, a homemade "shank" with a 3- -inch blade.
It was made from half a pair of scissors with the blade exposed and the handle was wrapped in black electrical tape, Morrison said.
"Another student reported it and the bus driver asked the student for it and it was turned over to the bus driver," Morrison said.
When asked why he had the weapon, the student said no one was bullying him and he hadn't threatened anyone -- it was just something he had made the night before.

Well, i'm related to this kid, and there is nothing wrong with him. He just got scared by a boy who bullies him all the time, every single day. Its not his fault.
