CONYERS -- The Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce will hold a meet-and-greet event Tuesday for residents to talk one-on-one with local elected officials.
The Community Leaders Meet and Greet will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the meeting house inside Corner Market, located at the corner of Parker and Flat Shoals roads. The event is free to all Chamber members and $10 for non-members.
Reservations are requested by Friday. RSVP can be made on line at www.conyers-rockdale.com.
David Shipp, the government affairs chairman of the Chamber, said the event is a continuation of the annual legislators and local leaders breakfast meetings.
He explained organizers believed it was time to change the format and make the event less formal.
"In the past, we would let the officials each give a five-minute presentation and then go into a question-and-answer session," he said. "We wanted to make it more accessible to everyone to where you could mix and mingle with our elected leaders and talk to them one-on-one."
Officials from the city and county governments, judicial center and Board of Education are scheduled to attend the event:
Rockdale County -- Commission Chairman Richard Oden, Commissioners Oz Nesbitt and JaNice Van Ness, Sheriff Jeff Wigington, Coroner Stephen Boyle and Tax Commissioner Dan Ray.
City of Conyers -- Mayor Randy Mills, and Councilmembers Marty Jones, Cleveland Stroud, Chris Bowen, Gerald Hinesley and Vince Evans.
