Newton Citizen
This poor guy very nearly came to an unhappy end. He was found inside a hamster ball which had been tossed in a dumpster. A kind person took this male, brown and white guinea pig to Rockdale Animal Control. He is understandably a bit skiddish, but experts say he only needs a loving environment and he will warm up to his new family. He can be rescued and adopted at Rockdale County Animal Care and Control Shelter at 1506 Rockbridge Road in Conyers. At the Rockdale shelter adoption fees for dogs are $30 and $20 for cats. Spaying or neutering is required for adoption. The shelter is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-278-8403.
Questions to ask before adopting a pet:
• Can I make a long-term commitment to this pet?
• Will I be able to spend enough time with a new pet?
• Am I prepared for the cost a new pet will bring?
• Which pet is right for my home and my family?
