Hardegree said that her granddaughter said that the things she makes are the things they can keep forever but the store stuff brought gifts won't last. Across the table, Beverly Hardegree, also a Newton resident, is making Christmas presents for family members who live in North Carolina, Florida and California. Hardegree said that her granddaughters look forward to the gifts she makes as keepsakes they will have forever. Both Cargill and Hardegree are part of the ceramics class at Turner Lake Complex in Covington. Linda Rogers, a ceramics instructor, said she is seeing more people interested in making Christmas gifts for family and friends this year.
