CONYERS -- An alert neighbor notified the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office of suspicious activity in their neighborhood, which resulted in the arrest of three suspects who were allegedly attempting to burglarize a house.
A deputy responded to the report of suspicious activity on Brookwood Way at about 11 a.m. Sunday after a neighbor reported three men dressed in black looking at houses. Two of the men reportedly went around to the back of a house and the neighbor heard glass breaking.
When the deputy arrived, one of the suspects, identified as a 15-year-old, was standing in front of the house talking on a cell phone. The suspect told the deputy he was looking for a friend who lived on the same block. During the conversation with the juvenile, the deputy saw two other males coming from the back yard of the house. One was identified as a 16-year-old juvenile, and the other was identified as Earl Lamar Grayson Jr., 17. All three suspects were instructed to sit on the curb in front of the house while other officers were called to the scene.
Upon investigation at the rear of the house officers found a green bag lying near the house with the back gate open. A window on the back of the house was broken and a rock was on the inside on the window sill.
All three suspects were placed under arrest. Grayson, of 395 Linkmere Lane, was charged with criminal attempt to commit a burglary and taken to the Rockdale County Jail. The 15-year-old suspect was charged with being a party to a crime. He was released to his mother. The 16-year-old juvenile was charged with criminal attempt to commit burglary. He was taken to the Gwinnett Youth Development Center.
