ROCKPORT, Texas (AP) — Officers in South Texas have captured a Georgia fugitive who's facing more than a dozen counts related to the alleged abuse of children.
Ward William Currier was held without bond Friday in the Aransas (uh-RAN'-suhs) County Detention Center. No attorney was listed for the 48-year-old Currier, who was captured Thursday outside a business in Rockport, about 185 miles southwest of Houston.
Federal agents had received information that Currier might be found in the Rockport area. Further details were not released.
Currier is wanted in Olgethorpe County on 13 counts related to suspicion of rape, enticement of minors for indecent purposes, cruelty toward a child, sexual assault of a child and molestation of a minor. Investigators in Georgia say the time frame goes back to 2007.
