MARIETTA (AP) — Authorities in Cobb County just outside Atlanta say they're trying to determine how the 911 system crashed Wednesday morning.
Cobb County 911 Supervisor Cathy Gordon tells WSB-TV the system was down for at least 40 minutes, but a backup system was operational by 10 a.m. Wednesday.
During the outage, residents were asked to hold all non-emergency calls.
Gordon said this hasn't happened before. She said a phone company was working to resolve the issue.
