Mrs. Verna White Dickerson of Covington, passed away November 12, 2011, at the age of 86. Mrs. Dickerson was a faithful member of Porterdale Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, canning, working in the yard, and spending time with her family. She is loved, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Strawder Mitchell Dickerson; sons, Lanier Dickerson, John Dickerson; and her parents, John and Lillian (Scoggins) White. Mrs. Dickerson is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Brian Long; son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Terrie Dickerson, all of Covington; grandchildren, Jennifer and Jason Ellis of Oxford; Wesley and Katie Dickerson of Monticello; Tim Dickerson of Covington; great grandchildren, Tristen Ellis, Braden Ellis, Quinn Dickerson; brothers and sister-in-law, Charlie and Mary White, Horace White; sisters and brother-in-law, Margaret and Jimmy Wainwright, all of Thomaston; Catherine Watson of Yatesville, GA; Mildred Swells of SC; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral Services for Mrs. Dickerson will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2011, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, with Rev. Dickie Johnson officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park.
