Emily Hodges Young, 76, of Conyers, died Thursday, November 10, 2011 after a long illness. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at R.T. Patterson Funeral Home, 500 Harbins Rd. in Lilburn. A longtime Conyers resident, Mrs. Young was a painter who taught private art lessons. She was also a substitute teacher for Rockdale County High School. Mrs. Young supported the local art and theater community and was a Friend of Nancy Guinn Memorial Library. She is survived by her son, Edwin James Stephens Young III of Gainesville, daughters Melissa Lyn Young of Macon and Emily Joanna Young of Sugar Hill, grandsons Edwin Joseph Young and Stephen Bailey Young of Gainesville, aunt Estelle Waters of Marietta, and numerous cousins: Van Waters of Fitzgerald, Patricia Ruffin of Martinez, Nancy Bradshaw of Monteagle, Tenn., Mary Ann Warlick of Stockbridge, Junie Parker, Emory Waters, Jr. and Donna Pope, all of Atlanta; Betty Walters of Franklin, Indiana; Linda Sperath of Oxford, Miss.; Geri Ingram of Black Mountain, N.C.; Herbert Hodges of Tennille; Deryl Sheppard, Mable Sheppard and Lynda Lindsey, all of Oconee; Ann Kinnett of Charleston, S.C., Wyman Hodges, Jr. and Cecil Hodges, Jr., both from Sandersville, Sherry Harris of Deep Step and Carol Smith of Lake Oconee.
