Rockdale high schools take first, second places in regional theater contest

Heritage competed against nine other schools, including Rockdale County High School and Salem High School, to take first place in the region at the Georgia High School Association One-Act Play Competition with the production of "The Boys Next Door." Rockdale County High School took second place in the competition with their production of "Will and Whimsy: Sixteen Dramatically Different Illustrated Sonnets of Shakespeare."

100 new jobs coming to Covington

COVINGTON - The Georgia Department of Economic Development announced Friday that Vestar Technologies will open its headquarters and manufacturing facility in Covington. Vestar is a new venture, and will manufacture specialty metal products used in a number of high-tech and growing industries including semiconductor and LED lighting. The company expects to create at least 100 jobs, with operations scheduled to begin in December.
