Thomas "Tom" Steakley, age 70, of Conyers, GA, formerly of Huntland, TN, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Horis A. Ward's Rockdale Chapel with Dr. Jim Waddle officiating. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Winchester, TN. Tom attended Highland Park Baptist Church in Conyers and will be fondly remembered as a loving father, grandfather and Carpenter. He loved children and became "Dad" to many. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Betty Phipps Steakley of Conyers; daughters, Cathy and Russ Davis of Houston, TX, Holly and Woody Ashley of Winchester, TN; godson, Mason Lynch of Murfreesboro, TN; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Katherine Vandiver of TN and Peggy Neal of TN. Mr. Steakley was preceded in death by his godson, Jimmy Lynch and brother, Donald Steakley. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 5-7 at Horis A. Ward's Rockdale Chapel in Conyers, GA and on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester, TN (931) 967-2222.
