FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Bernard Thompson seems to be fitting in nicely at the college level. The former Rockdale basketball star got off to a great start in his first game with Florida Gulf Coast University in the Eagles' only exhibition contest last weekend.
Thompson, a 6'3" guard, started and scored 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting in FGCU's 78-59 over Saint Leo. Thompson, who helped Rockdale reach the Class AAAA state championship game a year ago, played 25 minutes, handed out six assists and only had one turnover.
The Eagles open their regular season Friday when they travel to Fort Worth Texas to take on TCU of the Mountain West Conference.
