OXFORD -- Paced by 21 points from preseason All-Conference selection Stephen Simmons, Oxford College defeated the Truett-McConnell junior varsity 90-67 Tuesday night at Williams Gymnasium.
The 6-foot-1 Simmons was followed by former Newton standout Alex Ordu, who added 13 points, while freshmen Byron Stufken and Richard Obiora had 11 points each. Oxford led by as many as 20 points in the second half and outscored the Bears 35-26 in the final 15 minutes of play.The Eagles (1-0) will be on the road this weekend, playing at 11 a.m. Saturday against Southern Wesleyan College's junior varsity squad in Central, S.C. Oxford is scheduled to play at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, against Shorter's junior varsity in Rome.
