Zach and Lynn Olzacki of Punta Gorda, Fla., were in town this week visiting Lynn's parents, the Brookings of Oxford, and they arrived at Covington Municipal Airport in a historic aircraft.
Olzacki restored the 1955 Beechcraft T-34 B Mentor, which was used as a post-World War II military trainer.
"Combat pilots started their training in that particular type of aircraft," Olzacki said.
The trip from Florida to Covington was the longest flight the Olzackis have taken in the craft, but frequently take it to Florida air shows. Olzacki is president of the Experimental Aircraft Association's Florida squadron of Warbirds of America. For a photo slide show, visit www.newtoncitizen.com.
