Oxford College held its 166th commencement exercises on Saturday on the college green. About 350 students were led by Emory University's official bagpiper playing "The Emory and Old St. Andrews March" as they wore the colors of Emory University and the University of St. Andrews, Emory's sister university in Scotland. The speaker for the graduation observance was Robert G. Pennington of Gainesville, president and CEO of Willis Investment Counsel. Guests of honor at the ceremony included members of the Oxford College Class of 1961, whose 50th graduation anniversary makes them members of Corpus Cordis Aureum, or Golden Corps of the Heart. Alumni from the Class of 1961 and earlier classes wore gold robes, signifying their status. An interfaith baccalaureate service was held Friday at Old Church, followed by a dinner on the Oxford College campus green.
