Cathy Smallwood, the art teacher at Fairview Theme School, has spent the last two years painting an ABC mural on the hallways at the school. This week, she is finally finishing the mural. She also has painted murals in the library and other parts of the school.
With the ABC mural, Smallwood wanted to put a live being and inanimate object with each letter. With the letter "M," she chose monkeys and markers. Smallwood, who has painted murals for about 30 years, has dreamed of making an ABC mural since she was a little girl.
