COVINGTON -- A Covington woman living at a residence near the Walton/Newton county line has been charged in connection with the murder of her boyfriend, according to the Walton County Sheriff's Office.
Holly Threadgill, 32, of 1592 Pratt Road faces charges of murder, aggravated assault and cruelty to children in connection with the March 18 shooting death of Dallas Williams III, 23, of Loganville.
She and Williams were at the home of Threadgill's parents Friday between 7:30 and 8 p.m., along with a 3-year-old child, when the shooting occurred. The home is near Lower Jersey Road and is actually in Walton County, but has a Covington mailing address.
"Supposedly this guy was her boyfriend. She was supposed to be going through a divorce and was on the phone with her soon-to-be ex-husband," said Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman. "He didn't like her talking to him and they got into an argument."
Chapman said initially, Threadgill told investigators that the shooting occurred because she was going to commit suicide with the handgun that killed Williams. She said he tried to stop her and the gun went off.
"Later, after more investigation, she stated they were having an argument and she went into her father's bedroom and retrieved the gun to intimidate him and get him to calm down," Chapman said. "That's when they started arguing and fighting over the handgun and it went off. He did have powder burns on his hand, which verified he had his hands on the gun."
Threadgill is being held without bond in the Walton County Jail.
