Eighth-grader Taylor Bechtler, left, from the Montessori School of Covington, worked hard this year organizing a blood drive for the American Red Cross. "I'm mainly doing this because I heard that the American Red Cross is not getting enough donors," she said. "I felt the need to help." She spent five months working on the project, which also will support the community service portion of the school's curriculum. Her dedication paid off Thursday, when she held the blood drive at the school. She is pictured with Covington resident Amanda Nash, who is filling out the required paperwork.
